Community Activities
Our focus is on building belonging for children, young people and their families in rural communities offering more equal access to projects and services. We want to build connections to strengthen young people’s support and opportunity networks. We offer access to a range of activities bringing people together, where children and young people are vital partners in designing and leading our projects.

FREE School Holiday Activities
Many children and young people miss out on access to school holiday activities due to the high cost. We offer a wide range of activities every school holiday to ensure ALL children can play, learn, be creative and stay active.
Workshops this year have included Pond Dipping, animation, puppetry, cooking, yoga and cartooning.
Creative Chemists Project
The Creative Chemists project is a partnership between The Mildred Trust, St Michaels CofE Primary School and local artist Rachael Wilson.
Children and young people create and dispense poem prescriptions to support community well-being at Ivy Court Surgery covering different themes like courage, pride, resilience and compassion.
Local children and young people are working to develop a new supportive structure within the community to make an impact on community well-being whilst developing new skills (calligraphy, mini project management skills, literacy).
There is a beautiful display of our ‘Creative Chemists’ work in Webbs of Tenterden on Tenterden High Street.

Foody Fun
We provide access to healthy eating related activities/workshops, to encourage the purchase and consumption of whole food and to engage isolated communities.
Outreach sessions are delivered by The Mildred Trust in rural areas. This includes schools and community spaces.
Our most recent sessions included a slow cooker giveaway, recipe demo and distribution of free recipe bags. Recipes are designed by local residents and tutorials are delivered by local people.
Just ask for Flo
We LOVE your ideas and can help make them happen!
We officially launched our ‘Just ask for Flo’ Project when Sarah and her colleague from Tenterden Leisure Centre had the brilliant idea that people should have equal access to free, sustainable, reusable period products when using the leisure centre. If you need period products, you can just ‘Ask for Flo’ at reception.
This is just the beginning…if you are a rural community venue or sports club and would like to take part email info@themildredtrust.org
